Barbadian Superstar
Barbadian culture is influenced by african, european, and indigenous traditions. Barbadian culture emerged out of the plantation slavery economy as a distinctive synthesis of english and west african cultural traditions. Barbadian is the formal and official name for citizens of the caribbean island of barbados.
But the term barbadian is only used to fill out official documents and in passports. Some say bajans, others say barbadians, and many just say barbados people. As they say in barbados, it does not matter bajan or barbadians because “all we is one.” that covers african.
Increasing wealth brought consolidation of political power for a planter elite, and barbadian society became a plantocracy, with white planters controlling the economy and government institutions.
